Faculty Assemblies
SU Council is where all elected representatives of the Students’ Union come to discuss and vote on policy for the Union to adopt. However, some issues that students face are better dealt with on a Faculty level. The three faculties in College each meet at Faculty Assemblies, about four times a year to elect the School Convenors for the Schools in their Faculty and debate on the issues affecting their Faculty.
Here, the Faculty Convenors report on what they have been doing for students in their faculty and any student can come and ask questions of them. School Convenors also provide written reports for Assemblies. Any student can bring a discussion item to an Assembly on any topic on a wide range of issues.
The members of the Faculty Assemblies are the Class Reps and the School Convenors from that Faculty, the Faculty and Assistant Faculty Convenors and the Sabbatical Officers. The Faculty Convenors chair the Assemblies and the secretaries to the Assemblies are the Assistant Faculty Convenors. This year the Faculty Convenors are Sinéad Leydon (Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences), Eric Tebay (Engineering, Mathematics & Science) and Seán Maguire (Health Sciences).
